School Trip to the Fish Hatchery

One of Elena's classmates lives at the Wallace River Hatchery in Sultan and his family was nice enough to arrange a field trip to the facility. Fish Master Erin shows Elena some salmon eggs.
Check out the 4 month old baby fish.

Zachy finds all the kids just as interesting as the fish. He was a very popular guy and all the moms and grandmas were willing to take a turn holding him.

The kids all loved throwing food to the older fish and watching them jump about. Except Elena. She was happy just watching the chaos with Teacher Cathy.

After the hatchery tour, everyone was invited to make a fish print on a shirt or paper. Elena had fun painting the dead fish in various colors and we made a shirt for everyone in the family! Zachy's little onesie was even given a tail print.
Thanks for the great field trip!
